The Phone Car
Every good costume deserves a good prop, but usually nothing as elaborate as the Phone Car. What looks to be a giant telephone is actually a functional car, and yes, it’s street legal. The Phone Car is a converted 1975 VW Beetle designed to promote a phone company, Datel Communications. The owner of the Company, Howard Davis drove the car around dressed as his company’s resident super hero, Teleman. The car’s tinted windshield allows the driver to see clearly even though from the outside it looks like a number pad. And as you may have guessed, the car has an unusual honk that sounds like a telephone ringing!
