This is my twin daughters as Thing 1 and Thing 2 and they are home made costumes. Their friend was Cat in the Hat.

I made the head piece out of a cat costume by cutting out the ears and coloring by spray painting and combing. I was lucky to find the fabric for the body on sell for a buck a yard at our local “mart”.

My friend and I were Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat. We got lots of laughs at work and we even won the costume contest! Best part of the day was when we had to take my friend’s mom to the ER and everyone came out to see us sitting in the waiting room. Priceless!

The grinch is made out of last year’s christmas clothes, I added the tree with green ribbon to the sweater and bells, i spray painted spiderwebs green and glued them to a hair net for his hair and did the same with the gloves. He used pirate’s teeth and a lion’s nose,Green paint and TA-DA A home made GRINCH!

just took some of our clothes and sewed the patches on the fronts. worked out perfect, thought we looked great! :)

Ashley age 11 in a store bought Cat in the Hat costume. My 7 year old twins Alexis (thing 1) and Alexandra (thing 2) are wearing home made costumes.

Our mom worked really hard sewing these costumes for us by hand! It was her first time making a costume and we are really proud of her, plus we look AWESOME!!

Our favorite part of the costume is getting to have Blue Hair! How many dogs can say that they have had blue hair! Mom got most of her supplies from Jo Ann’s fabric and for our hair she used some old dog hats we had. She sewed a blue feather Boa to the top and a jawstring and some elastic; so we could run and play without losing our hair!

It’s really fun walking around town and seeing everyone get all excited and honk at us! Please let us know if we win, we will be keeping our paws crossed!!!

Dad loves to read The Cat in the Hat and other Dr. Seuss books to our two boys. While on a business trip earlier this year, he bought them Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts. That’s where the inspiration came for our costumes.

Dr. Seuss Halloween Costumes 2009

I have 4 girls at West Canyon Elementary this year. Their school does not have Halloween parties, but instead has a Fall Frolic. A part of the Fall Frolic the kids dress up as their favorite character out of any book. This year we decided to all dress up as Dr. Seuss characters. Jenna is the Lion from Ten Apples Up On Top, mainly because she wanted to be able to wear her Rollerblades to school. Kamryn Is Cindy Lou Who from The Grinch That Stole Christmas. Kaylee is Mayzee from Daisy-Head Mayzie. Paige is Sam I am from Green Eggs and Ham.. Our baby, Lilyan, (age 2) is a Sneetch. I am the Fish from The Cat In The Hat. I am always, telling everyone what to do and not to do and all the trouble they will get in, I guess. My husband, who is more fun, is The Cat in the Hat.
