Here we have King Kong clutching our 7 year old “Damsel in Distress,” on top of the Empire State Building. Our son thought he would make his friends giggle by transforming himself into Fay Wray with girly makeup. His friends didn’t do much laughing, instead his spotlighted head walking in a lit up building, left them begging for him to design their costumes next year. We helped him stitch up mattress foam into a box he could walk in. Then we covered it in an old room darkening window pull shade (so the light would only shine out the cut windows) and grey fabric. We cut out windows on all four sides so that the light from the battery operated Christmas lights would shine through select windows. King Kong is made from fur, a black vinyl table cloth, foam & pillow stuffing. Three foam airplanes attached with wire circled his head.

I just got scammed on Craigslist for $1700 so I was thinking of an innexpensive costume idea. The Wednesday before Halloween it hit me, Octomom! I went to the $1 store and bought 8 babies. I also got a t-shirt from 5Below that says “In the business of hardley working”, a cheap wig and wax lips. TA DA! haha And in this picture I photoshopped it and put myself on a red carpet

King Hippo from classic Nintendo game Punch Out!

We came up with the idea for the costume for our son, Grayson, because our whole family loves the movie and thought the character was hilarious. We made the costume from scratch just gathering bits and pieces from around the house and using some old pieces from past halloween decor and costumes. The belt was made from a mommy’s fleece headband with iron on letters from a craft store. The knee pads were made from the fabric cut from the bottom of the cape and the mustache was made with mommy’s mascara. We dyed the underpants red to match the outfit and the wig from last halloween was the finishing touch. Best homemade costume EVER, love it!

This is a hand made blow up doll costume. I bought nude color old lady undergarments, pantyhose and a blond wig. I painted nipples on my tank top, wrote “made in Japan” on the buttocks section of the outfit. Seams were drawn along my body and an inch of makeup was applied to my face. The most important part of the costume is the mouthpiece (cut off of a child’s arm floaty) that is glued onto my hip.

I love Lucy, and so I made this fun costume to honor the very popular chocolate factory episode.My mom made my uniform and my brother made the working conveyor belt covered in chocolate candies.I reenacted the scene and stuffed my cheeks full all day!

There’s a story….
I love Brady Bunch so I decided to be Alice and the rest of the gang from the Brady Bunch! It’s the opening scene and the theme song played too! Everything was homemade,my made made the Alice uniform and my brother constructed the frame with the Brady Bunch heads! So fun!

We came up with the idea when we first watched the movie in July. Gru even shaved his head for the part…wore a cut pinnochio nose and knitted a scarf. The Minions donned bald capped…created eyes for their goggles…even added the Gru logo to their overalls…and of course lots of yellow face paint.
