How to Make a Shepherd Costume
Whether you need to dress as a shepherd in a play or you have decided to tend the flock this Halloween in costume you don’t have to spend a ton of money. Remember shepherds were men of little means, so it make sense that you wouldn’t need much to look like one. With a little creativity you can look like an authentic shepherd in no time flat.
Things You’ll Need:
Long Night Gown
Old Pillow Case
Staff or Cane
Putting your Shepherd Costume Together:
Step 1: The base of your costume will be a long ankle length natural beige nightgown with long sleeves. If you can only find one in white you can stain the white night gown by soaking it in tea bags.
Step 2: The black robe that goes overtop your gown should be short sleeve and basic. You can tie it loosely at the waist leaving an opening in front. If you can only find long sleeves you can cut them short. It doesn’t have nice hems. In fact, shepherds usually wore garments with loose hems.
Step 3:Find and old white or natural beige pillowcase. Again, if the pillowcase is white stain it by soaking it with tea bags. Cut the pillowcase into two sides. Take one side and place is on your head, use the elastic headband to hold it in place.
Step 4: You can find a staff at most costume shops, but you can also make one. Find a stick that is almost as tall as you and your in business. For children, an old adult sized cane will do.
